Esmat graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in biology. After graduation, she worked in the lab of Brad Bernstein at MGH where she studied how aberrant DNA methylation alters 3D genome architecture. In the Muir lab, Esmat is interested in understanding the biochemical mechanisms of cancer-associated histone mutations. Outside the lab, she enjoys bringing Californian positivity and easygoingness to the East Coast.
